Valentine's Gift Guide - For Her!

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, hopefully if you needed to get your other half anything you would have got them it by now! But on the off chance that you haven't, and you need some ideas, here are a few things I think would make great gifts - either for Valentine's, for your BFF's birthday or even just a treat for yourself!

The Nars blush pallets are out of this world. I have tried so hard to resist them for so long, but the quality of them is amazing and the colour lasts for hours! The colours in this quad are all gorgeous, and will go well subtly or if you want a bit more OOMPH, a pallet of this quality will allow you to do so without making you look like a drag queen! It comes in at a price of £30, but the blushes are around £20 each! Perrrrfect!

Every girl's dream - a Tiffany. How could this gift go wrong?! Wrapped in the iconic blue box with white ribbon, you could make her year! You can order online, but I would personally go into the store if you can. The experience you get is so personal, and you will be reassured that you are making the right choice! This pendant is a classic, and is sold for £130 - I'm pretty sure that includes a chain too!

Thomas Sabo have such beautiful charms, they fit onto most charm bracelets, as the clasps aren't too small. However, I would recommend getting a Thomas Sabo charm bracelet, they last so well! I've had mine for at least 2 years now and it's still showing no signs of wear or discolouration! You can fill it with charms that are personal to you, or just ones you like! This interlocking hearts are perfect for Valentine's and are a bargain at only £25.95. Take a look at their website, they have hundreds of charms and a lot of them are very affordable, but still look amazing!

This perfume smells soooooo good! It's Katy Perry's newest one called "Killer Queen." They did it in amazing gift sets at boots over Christmas which is when I first noticed it. They do it in 30ml and 50ml bottles, and the bottles themselves are so nice too! At the minute, Boots have the 50ml on offer for an AMAZING price - only £14.50!!! This is actually cheaper than the 30ml bottle! So quick, so snap yourself up a great deal!

I made this iPhone case on vistaprint.co.uk who currently have 25% off at the minute! They have loads of designs to choose from, this was the post popular one, where you just upload one picture and they print it onto the back of the case. I decided to use a simple picture of my cat Frank, which I think works quite well! Alternively, you could upload a picture of you and your partner, or you and your bestie! They're such good value, and vistaprint products are always amazing quality. This is a snip at just £9.37!! It's so much better than the websites like casetagram who charge £20+ for a case, especially if you just wanted one image! Click here to go to vistaprint's website to see their designs!

I hope this blog post has given you some helpful ideas for whatever occasion it might be for! Thanks for reading!

I'm so rubbish!

I'm Sorry!

I am so rubbish at updating this blog, I never seem to be able to find the time to just sit down and write. I always want to add more to it, but something always happens and stops me.

I will try my very best to keep a schedule of some sort and try to update this at least once a week, sometimes it might be more...but more likely it'll be less haha! I find it so difficult to post on here after I've been at work all day and I really try to treasure any time I have off, usually I do something because I hate sitting around wasting time!

Please stick around and make sure you follow this blog, I do have some exciting ideas that I WILL get round to posting, eventually ;)

Base2Stay, Beatles Experience and Liverpool One!

Hello there!

I find it so hard to find honest reviews of places, especially if I'm spending a lot of money. I find that the website itself bigs itself up massively, and I'm often disappointed. But not this time! Today, I'm going to tell you about my experience in Liverpool - with all the good and bad bits included!

Lets do this!

WARNING: THIS IS VERY PICTURE HEAVY!

Base2stay, Seel Street, Liverpool

If you read my last blog, you would've seen that I mentioned I was going to Liverpool for my Dad's birthday. After looking on TripAdvisor, it was clear that Base2stay was a contender to be the hotel we booked. They have a large selection of different room sizes and numbers of beds, obviously the bigger the room the more expensive.

We ended up booking the 'Secret Garden Suite,' which was INCREDIBLE! When we walked into the room, I couldn't believe how huge it was to say it was in the city centre (seriously, it's a 5 minute walk to Liverpool One and the docks.) We had electrically operated curtains, 2 huge TV's, a small WC, a huge bathroom with two showers (!!!!) and our own kitchen! As well as having a decked area outside with seats and a table with outdoor lights too! This was all over two floors in a gallery style open plan room. Words can't describe how amazing it was, seriously!

There were only a few problems, which could have easily been resolved. The member of staff on reception giving us wrong directions to the restaurant that the hotel has links with! We ended up being late for our dinner reservation, after leaving the hotel in good time to get
there. There were so many light switches in the room that it took us forever to figure out what they all did, but that could just be because we were being slow! Another thing was the fact that both toilets were downstairs, to say that 3 people sleep upstairs and only 2 downstairs and the room is open plan, you have to walk through where everyone is sleeping and therefore wake them up in the night. I felt this could have been organised better and maybe put a small one upstairs.

Aside from that, the hotel is excellent, the reception area is modern and clean, and safe with key activated entrance doors to the reception and then to the rooms throughout the hotel. The location is perfect, close to everything you'll need in Liverpool. Although looks might be deceiving, the road it's on does look rundown, with old clubs boarded up etc. However, we went out and didn't get back till 10:30pm, the locals seemed polite and friendly, and even though there are clubs around the area you can't hear them once you're in your room.

My Dad, my boyfriend Dean & myself

Will definitely stay here again!

You can check out the Base2stay website here, or if you need more info - give them a call (0151 705 2626) their reception is open 24/7 - or drop them an email liverpool.info@base2stay.com

The Beatles Story, Albert Dock, Liverpool

My dad has wanted to go to this for years, he has a love for The Beatles, and I was so happy that he finally got to go. He loved it! The prices range depending on what type of ticket you get, but they're £12+ for an adults. To say the tour takes about 2 hours, I thought this was quite pricey, you get no extras on the tour and the rooms are small and get cramped very quickly. You are given an audio device that tells you the story as you go through the museum. I thought this was quite a good idea, but parts of it felt dull and dragged out. My dad, being a huge Beatles fan, loved it. But even he didn't like that there was no seating throughout the experience or refreshments until the end despite the rooms getting extremely hot because there is no air-conditioning.

There are a lot of displays to look at, but because of the number of people pushed into each room it is difficult to spend time properly looking without being rushed. We bought the ultimate experience ticket, which does also include the Elvis & Us and the 4D experience, however due to them both being in a different part of the docks, we didn't get time to do them. They don't make it clear that these attractions aren't in the same building and you have to make your way to get to it.

I felt disappointed after visiting this, I have grown up with The Beatles music in my life through my Dad yet found it hard to concentrate even though I'm interested in what they've done to change musical history. I would not recommend taking children to this, they will definitely get bored! Glad we went, my Dad seemed to enjoy it, especially after then visiting The Cavern Club which is a short walk away, which has a unique feel and live music throughout the day.

No need to go more than once.

You can visit The Beatles Story here, which has information about the museum and ticket prices are also online. There is no need to book in advance.

Liverpool One

This shopping centre is so modern, I got a shock when I saw just how new it looks! A lot of it is glass, and the structure of the shops makes it qwerky and different. I loved how the layout of it was in streets, so it was easy to find your way back to certain shops, or even the car park!

It does have a lot of mainstream shops that you find in all cities, but there are a few smaller ones that I've never seen before, or have only seen online! The John Lewis there is HUGE and the architecture of it is very unusual! Great place to shop, and open till 8pm on a weekday!

Liverpool One is outside, but thankfully when we went it was sunny so that wasn't a problem, there are covered parts but I can imagine it not being a nice place to shop when the weather is horrible!

Loved shopping here, very nice atmosphere and good range of shops!

Liverpool One have their own website, you can check out what shops are there before you go by clicking here!

Trip to Liverpool!

Hello there!

For my dad's birthday, we're going to Liverpool for a few days! The hotel we're staying in looks amazing, and we are planning on doing the Beatles tour while we're there (aswell as shopping obviously!) I do have a few things planned!..

  • I'm planning on reviewing both the hotel and the tour we go on, so that for people that in the future want a true look into what it's like they can find one!
  • I hope to try and do a follow me round vlog too, hoping that my dad will let me film him!
  • I'm also decorating my room at the minute, so hope to do a room tour as soon as that's finished!

Me and my amazing Dad! Please excuse my over excitement...

Stick around for lots of new things coming your way very soon!

Hello!

I "accidentally" went into Boots and there was a lot of things I'd had my eyes on for a while, so it was only right that I bought them! Three of which being Benefit products, two Soap & Glory.

Benefit:

  • Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! SPF 25

This is not the first time I've purchased this foundation, a few months ago I got it when Debenhams had a 10% off, so thought I'd try it out. It gives great coverage, and is very light on your skin - it doesn't block up your pores and lets your air breathe.

I'd been using high street foundations because I couldn't afford to folk out over £20 for a foundation anymore. However, I soon went back to them after my skin started to break out horrendously, I usually have quite clear skin so it was obvious that my foundation was the problem.

The lady on the counter suggested that I tried the new Hello Flawless foundation because it's great for young skin, I've always been reluctant to buy foundations in hard bottles because you lose so much that you can never get out! This foundation bottle has some form of plastic pump at the bottom that pushes it all up, so you get all of your product! Hurray!

I have quite pale skin, so I use the shade "believe in me, ivory." It does look dark in the bottle, but blends into your skin tone so well and effortlessly! The only fault that I have with this product is that the coverage doesn't last as long as I'd have hoped. BUT! Benefit have brought out a new primer that's meant to last for 15 hours! So of course, I bought this when I got a new bottle of this foundation! ;)

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! SPF 25 is available at Benefit counters, or online at benefitcosmetics.co.uk for £25.50.

  • Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer

I'm yet to try this, but I have heard so many great things about it! I've been debating whether to buy it or not since I first read about it and the beauty guru's got sent a sample of it.

The packaging is so cute, I love the spots on the lid, and the bottle itself looks so powerful in a black bottle! The product itself smells very sweet, but not too overpowering.

I have very high hopes for this primer, and due to the conditions where I work, it will be tested to its extremes!

Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer is available at Benefit counters, or online at benefitcosmetics.co.uk for £24.50.

  • Benefit B.Right Radiant Skincare 6 Piece Set

This set is adorable! The bottles are so tiny! I purchased this after speaking to someone on the Benefit counter about skincare, she suggested that I try out all the skincare products before purchasing the larger sized ones which range from £18+, whereas this set was only £12.50! What a bargain!

Inside, there are 6 different skincare products:

Foamingly Clean Facial Wash
Moisturise Moisture prep Toning Lotion
It's Potent! Eye Cream
Total Moisture Facial Cream
Triple Performing Moisturising Facial Emulsion SPF 15 PA++
Refined Finish Facial Polish

On the back of the packaging, it explains how to use each one, and they are meant to be used in a set order - but of course you can use them which ever way suits your skin best. I was very surprised at how well this worked with my skin after just one use. My skin looked brighter, fresher and cleaner after using all 6 products, and made my makeup stay on for so much longer. I will use this skincare set for a few more weeks before I write up a review of it, I want to give it more time for me to see strong results, but so far so good!

Benefit B.Right Radiant Skincare 6 Piece Set is available at Benefit counters, or online here for £12.50 - I was unable to find this set on the Benefit website, only the larger sizes of each of the products.

Soap & Glory:

  • Kick Ass Concealer

I've wanted to try this concealer for as long as I can remember, it is £10 for the "kit" which I thought was quite pricey for something that you only use on small areas of your face, however it was on a 2 for £15 deal at boots which tipped me over the edge to buy it!

The "kit" as it's called on the box contains an under eye brightening concealer, a super wear lightscramble face concealer and a concealer sealing powder. Thankfully, the outer packaging tells you which order to use them in, or I'd get it totally wrong and end up making it look awful! It also contains a small powder puff, which is SO soft!

I accidentally picked up the 'medium' tone instead of the light, only realising after I'd left the store. I ended up walking back to use the tester to see if it would be too dark, but due to me having quite dark under-eye circles, it made them vanish without me looking orange! Bonus!

It all comes in a handly little pot, perfect for your makeup bag, also with a mirror inside so you can apply on the go! I'm always rushed for time when doing my makeup on a morning before work, so I know this diamond will come in handy very often! (Believe me, I'm like a zombie when I wake up, not a good look...)

I can't wait to try this out and see how it copes! Keep checking back for a review!

Kick Ass Concealer is available in store at Boots or online for £10.

  • Solar Powder Mix-And-Match Multi Shade Bronzer

I've never thought of looking into buying Soap & Glory cosmetics excluding the concealer before. I'm a  huge fan of Fleur De Force, and after seeing her review of a Soap & Glory product online, I thought I'd give it a go.

I did make a bit of a mistake though...I thought the product I picked up was the one she reviewed and said it was amazing (click here to read her blog post), which is the highlighter. I did recently purchase Beat the Blues by MeMeMe, which is meant to be a copy of Benefit High Beam. It does work excellently I must admit, so in a way maybe it's a good job I didn't pick up yet another highlighter. (No-one wants to look TOO glowy and shiny, right?)

Instead, I grabbed Soap & Glory's bronzer. I rarely use bronzer, I find whenever I apply it I just look mucky, but that could be because I was applying too much and my bronzer that I was using was cheap and nasty! Hopefully, this will give me a nice holiday looking tan on my face, and define my cheekbones.

Like most of the products in this haul, I will post a review of this and how I get on with it when I've got the chance to properly use it!

Solar Powder Mix-And-Match Multi Shade Bronzer is available in store at Boots or online for £11.

Thanks for reading my essay of a blog!
